National Equal Pay Day is Tuesday April 14, 2015. This date marks how far into the new year a woman must work on average to earn as much as a man in a similar position earned the previous year. The average working woman earns just 78 cents to the average man’s dollar, and even less for women of color. That means that it would take 99 days for women to catch up to what men earn in a year.
With a mission such as eliminating racism and empowering women, YWCA Metropolitan Chicago is passionate about this issue. Join us during lunch tomorrow at noon to hear YWCA CEO, Dorri McWhorter give an impassioned keynote about pay inequity and what can be done to address this issue. #itsnotthatcomplicated
